HENDERSON – VANCE CRIMESTOPPERS
SCHOLASTIC CRIME STOPPERS
The
Henderson-Vance Crime Stoppers shall be the parent organization for
Scholastic Crime Stoppers to be located in the Vance County School system.
Henderson-Vance Crime Stoppers will be responsible for providing the
financial rewards and logistic support to the Scholastic Crime Stoppers. All
fundraising and rewards will be paid by the Henderson-Vance Crime Stoppers
through Scholastic Crime Stoppers. Scholastic Crime Stoppers will meet once
a month for the purpose of conducting crime stoppers business. At these
meetings, members will pick school crimes to be publicized. Rewards of 50 to
100 dollars will be paid for information on school crimes. It is recommended
that these rewards be paid through school counselors or principals or others
as designated by the Scholastic Crime Stoppers Board of Directors.
The
officers for Scholastic Crime Stoppers shall consist of a Chairman,
Vice-Chairman, and a Secretary. Membership to the board shall consist of two
Freshman, two Sophomores, two Juniors, and two Seniors and a Chairman of the
board. The membership of the board should be chosen to be representative of
the school population. The original board of directors will be appointed for
one-year terms. Appointments to the board should be based on recommendations
of the principal, teachers, counselors, and coaches.
The
duties of the Chairperson will include scheduling and presiding over monthly
meetings, see that meetings are carried out in an expeditious manner, use
Roberts rules of order for a guideline to conduct meetings, publicize Crime
Stoppers in the schools to familiarize the student body with Crime Stoppers,
and choose school crimes to be publicized and publicize the crimes of the
week from the parent organization. The Chairperson will serve as liaison to
the parent organization and will become an ex officio member of
Henderson-Vance Crime Stoppers. They will attend regular monthly meetings of
Crime Stoppers and report on their board activity.
The
Vice-Chairman will assist the president in the above-described duties. In
addition the Vice-Chairman will serve as Chairman in the absence of the
Chairman.
The
Secretary will be responsible for keeping minutes and records of all
official business of Crime Stoppers.
